Description: 

Virgin Mary and Christ Child The Virgin Mary, who is nimbed, holds the nude Christ Child, who is cross-nimbed, wears beads around his neck, and raises his right hand in blessing. She is seated on a canopied throne with a backdrop inscribed MARIA MATER GRACIE MATER MISERICORDIE TU NOS AB HOSTE PROTEGE ET HORA MORTIS. At the left is Pierre de Bosredont as donor. He is wearing a tunic inscribed with a Maltese cross, his hands are joined, and he kneels at a draped prie dieu on which a book rests on a cushion. Before the prie dieu is a dog. At right is an angel with joined hands. The figures are in a windowed room framed by an arch supported by two slender columns. The walls are covered with a drapery decorated with peacock feathers. Inscribed on the border of the drapery and only partially visible is AVE R[EGINA] CELO[RUM] MA[...] MARIE MATER. On both the left and lower borders is the monogram AP flanked by the inscriptions PIERRE DE BOSREDONT and DI CHOSSON DE NIBORO,.
The margins are decorated with foliate and floreate ornament inhabited by a peacock standing on the monogram AP, the initials linked by vines, and by two rabbits flanking the heraldic shield of Pierre Bosredont (quarterly, vair and gules).
