Description:

Sebastian of Rome: Scene, Torture — A nimbed Sebastian wearing a short loincloth stands against a tree, his arms behind him and his body pierced by arrows shot by two flanking torturers, one wearing a hat, the other wearing a helmet and a tabard inscribed SPQR. Above, the sun emits rays, some of which touch the head of Sebastian. The scene is set in front of a hillock with a body of water and a city in the background.
The margins are decorated with floreate ornament, including a viola, inhabited by a rabbit. The heraldic shield of Pierre de Bosredont (quarterly, vair and gules) is in the left margin. A scroll with the motto of Pierre de Bosredont, DI CHOSSON DE NIBORO, is in the lower margin.
