Join us! The Morgan Library & Museum runs an active volunteer program that helps to further our mission. The talents and skills of our volunteers enrich a wide variety of our offerings and strengthen our outreach to the public.

Volunteers have the opportunity to become an integral part of the Morgan, to learn about the Morgan’s notable collections, to interact with scholars and other professionals leading its departments, and to engage with visitors of all ages.

Volunteers also enjoy activities such as:

  • Curator-led tours of all new temporary exhibitions
  • Tours to other cultural institutions organized by the Department of Volunteer Services
  • Invitation to the Annual Volunteer Recognition event held in J. Pierpont Morgan’s Library
  • Invitation to the Annual Volunteer Meeting at which staff provide an insider’s view of museum and special collections work.

A list of current opportunities is included below.  If you are interested in volunteering at the Morgan, please contact Jane Lattes, Director of Volunteer Services, by e-mail at jlattes@themorgan.org or by phone at (212) 590-0327.

Please note that the Morgan does not accept Volunteer applications from high school, college, or graduate students. Students should explore our internships and fellowships.

Ways to Volunteer

Information Desk Volunteer

Information Desk Volunteers are part of a team of outgoing, friendly people who help enhance the visitor experience by providing information about the Morgan, its collections, exhibitions, and membership program. Desk representatives also distribute complimentary audio guides and augmented reality devices to visitors and instruct them in the usage of the guides. The Morgan is currently looking for volunteers available to work on Sundays.
