My Journal

Elysian Charter School, Newark, NJ

My book can be interpreted in very different ways. When some people think about girls writing in journals they’ll most likely think they're writing about dumb stereotypical stuff like boys or secrets; but it’s more than that. Writing in a journal or diary is how people escape or let go. For me, my journal is one of my valuable possessions. It’s where I put my emotions and feelings, it's something safe I can count on and trust. It took me multiple tries to write my book so that it would be perfect. However, at the end of my process I realized I made a mistake which had to be fixed. I got upset, but it’s ok, because mistakes happen. After fixing the mistake with a chalk paint I created, my book turned out better than I even thought it would.
