Gift of Mr. Walker O. Cain in honor of Charles Ryskamp on his 10th anniversary as Director.

Notes
This elevation of the east wall of the East Room, the book-lined space that is the heart of Pierpont Morgan's Library, is devoted to the installation of the decorative fireplace mantel and hood. The fireplace elements were sourced by Charles Follen McKim from the Florentine dealer Stefano Bardini, and the modification of the elements and their installation were overseen by the stonemason Riccardo Nobili. Above the hood is a decorative element comprised of a central wreath and two cornucopias. This element was eventually eliminated to allow the Triump of Avarice tapestry by Pieter Coecke van Aelst to hanng above the fireplace, forming the visual centerpiece of the room.
