Notes
Marvin Bileck is renowned primarily as a printmaker and illustrator of children's books. This drawing, executed in Maine, is rendered with the great precision and sensitivity that demonstrates the artist's skill as an etcher and engraver. Focusing on the most salient details he left much of the sheet blank, deriving expressivity from these negative spaces.
