One of a series of 108 drawings by Giambattista Tiepolo from an album bearing the title, "TIEPOLO DESSINS ORIGINAUX", inscribed by Edward Cheney, "E.C. Venice 1852 May 31 / bought from the Conte Corniani Algarotti". Image aligns with IV, 123D.
Preparatory for the fresco of Fame Heralding the Arrival of Henry III of ca. 1745, now in the Musee Jacquemart-Andre', Paris, but originally a ceiling in the Villa Contarini-Pisani, Mira.
Watermark: fragment, possibly base of a crossed arrow.
