The drawing displays a similar composition and motifs to those in a Rembrandt school sheet of the same subject in the Louvre, Paris (R.F. 1.980), which was attributed to Barent Fabritius (1624-73).

Inscribed at lower right, in brown ink, "p/r [?]"; on the verso, at upper right center, in graphite, "p/r".
