Unidentified collector (mark similar, but not identical to Lugt S. 2986b); Heneage Finch, 5th Earl of Aylesford (1786-1859), London and Packington Old Hall, Meriden, near Coventry, Warwickshire (Lugt 58); possibly his sale, London, Christie's, 17-18 July 1893, one of two (with I-217) in lot 252: "A Dutch Barn, by Rembrandt; and The Carrying of the Cross, by Van den Eeckhout" (to Fairfax Murray for £4.10.0); Charles Fairfax Murray (1849-1919), London and Florence; from whom purchased through Galerie Alexandre Imbert, Rome, in 1909 by Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913), New York (no mark; see Lugt 1509); his son, J.
