[subscript bellow superscript] 36".
Watermark: Countermark: Letters "PB" (similar to Heawood, no. 430), letters between chain lines, with B touching chain at right.

Sir Anthony Westcombe (Lugt 202); his cousin, Bernard Granville; his descendants; sale of a descendant, London, Puttick and Simpson, 22 December 1857, no doubt 1 among the various lots of Ostade drawings, probably 1 of 6 in lot 51; "an external scene with figures, all in pen and wash" (to Hermann for £ 1.1.0); Charles Fairfax Murray; Mr. and Mrs. Owen D. Young; given by Mrs. Young in the 1930s to the donor.
