This group of twenty-one drawings for book illustrations gives evidence of Gravelot's versatility, as can be seen in the variety of books represented - biography, memoirs, funeral orations, a commemorative volume celebrating the marriage of the Dauphin (later Louis XVI) to Marie Antoinette, a geography (written in part by Gravelot's brother), a tragic drama, and poetry. Six drawings for a play by Fenouillot de Falbaire are also included.
