On the margin, at the bottom, is written in ink, by Coppenol (the sitter): "In Effigiem Laevini Coppenollij Scriptoris Celeberrimi / Divinae Graphices hoc non laudabilis autor, Quod summa Laudis culmen excedunt suae, / Verus hic est, non verus hic est Coppenollius, olim / Fortis juventâ, nunc senecta fortior. / Si laevi videas dextram volitare / papyro, / Non hanc senectus, dixeris, manum gravat; / Turget in hoc senio primae vis viva juventa, / Nec ista cani tempora aut rugae decent. / Tolle manum, Pictor, non est pote Protra, non est / Istum referre nescio Juvenem an senem. / Constanter / L. van Coppenol scripsit An[o superscript]. 1661 Ætatis suae 62.".
