L. Conquet's file of drawings, etched proofs, and autograph letters concerning his edition of Claretie's La canne de M. Michelet [album].

Album assembled by L. Conquet containing a collection of 12 drawings, 89 proofs of etchings, and 43 items of original correspondence concerning the illustration and publication of Conquet's edition of Jules Claretie's La canne de M. Michelet (Paris : L. Conquet, 1886), with illustrations by P. Jazet and etched by H. Toussaint. Album includes seven states of the frontispiece, the complete set of 12 original drawings by Jazet in gouache, pen and ink, watercolor, and china white, and a series of proofs of the etched plates: I (7 states), II (7), III (7), IV (6), V (7), VI (7), VII (8), VIII (6), IX (7), X (6), XI (9), XII (5). One plate in each series of proofs is extensively re-drawn and annotated by the artist. Also included are 13 letters from Claretie to the publisher, 12 letters from Jazet to the publisher, 4 letters from the engraver H. Toussaint to the publisher, 9 letters from the printers at the Imprimerie Ch. Hérissey to the publisher, and receipts for payment to Jazet for three drawings from Librarie L. Conquet.
