Summary
Concerning a "petition from the trustees of Dickinson College for the use of the public buildings at Carlisle in the State of Pennsylvania. The sooner we obtain an answer to our request the better. We have already above 30 Scholars who suffer much from the want of suitable accommodations. The public buildings will accommodate when repaired above 200 boys, and all our masters. I have written to our delegates upon the Subject, but as the College is chiefly in the hands of gentleman who are unfriendly to the power which created them members of Congress, we have reason to fear they will throw obstacles in the way of our wishes. I communicate this suspicion in confidence to you - that you may guard against it."
