The preface identifies "Mrs. Mant," as the compiler with the assistance of Rev. Richard Mant, Domestic Chaplain to His Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury and Vicar of Great Coggeshell, Essex. Rev. Mant was granted the domestic chaplain in 1813, the date of compilation cited in the preface. The Alicia Catherine Mant referred to in the preface was Richard's younger sister; their parents were Rev. Richard Mant of Southampton and Elizabeth Roe Mant (d. 1826).
