Binding
Contemporary German pigskin with blind filet design and blind-stamped title (abraded) over wooden boards (29 x 21.5 cm), sewn on 3 supports. Plain paper pastedowns; plain endbands with striped cloth covering. Manuscript waste as quire guards. Hole on rear board from former chain attachment.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Rubricated, red lombards, paragraph marks (C-type with extended upper stroke), and capital strokes. Annotations: Minimal notations in text, mainly manicules. Contemporary roman numeral foliation. Manuscript quire signatures with numerals on rectos and quire number on final verso.
Provenance
Nicolas Bernauer (d. 1531), inscription: "Presens liber est Nicolai Pernawer Bacc. Ingoldstaten[sis] quem p[ro] vi f[loreni] Renen[ses] compavit" and a list of titles in Part I, 15th century (front pastedown), Bernauer was a monk at St. Emmeram from at least 1489 (see MBK IV/1, 123-24 and Bischoff, MS II, 134-37); Vienna, Bundesdenkmalamt, 2 ink stamps (front turn-in); Hamilton A.
