18th-century German half marbled sheepskin, with marbled sides, over paper boards (21 x 15 cm.), sewn on 4 supports. Plain paper pastedowns and fly leaves.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Rubrication unrealized. Annotations: Contemporary German inscriptions: "Johannes Dei gratia Sancte Treuerensis Archep[iscopu]s," "Johannes Dei gratia Sancte treuerensis in Domino salutem," and "Salutem plurimam in christo" (rear fly leaf); likely a reference to Johann II von Baden, archbishop of Trier (1456-1503).
