A sketchbook containing early drafts for parts of Act III.
Also included are an incomplete draft of his song "Das Bächlein (Göthe)" (p. 2-5); a draft for an aria beginning "Sent un certo," called "italienische Oper," not related to Die schweigsame Frau (p. 6-10); a copy of the aria "Sento un certo" from "Monteverdi (Valletto, Damigella) L'Incoronatione di Poppea (Venedig 1642)"; and a draft of an incomplete arrangement of "Sent' un certo," called "Monteverdi" (p. 25).
On the front of the notebook Strauss has written "Arabella III. Akt."
The text of "Das Bächlein" (o. Op. AV. 118) is not by Goethe; the author is as yet unidentified.
