Typescript of the screenplay for the 1937 film directed by Tay Garnett and starring Warner Baxter and Wallace Beery. The supporting cast features Mickey Rooney, George Sanders, Jane Darwell, and Joseph Schildkraut. Writing credits for "Slave Ship" are as follows: screenplay by Sam Hellman, Lamar Trotti, and Gladys Lehman; story by William Faulkner; based on the historical novel The Last Slaver by George S. King. The movie was released by Twentieth Century-Fox and premiered in New York on June 17, 1937.
Typed on title page: "Revised Final Script / December 15, 1936."
Front cover reads: "Revised Final / The Last Slaver / December 15, 1936 / Property of / Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation / Return to Stenographic Department." The movie's title has been crossed out and "Slave Ship" is written above it. The number "1682.1b" is written in pencil above "Revised Final" and "202" is stamped in the lower right corner.
Working title for the film was "The last slaver."
