The majority of the text is the same printing as the Windesheim breviary of 'circa' 1 Feb. (ISTC ib01144500), with some reset quires marked S for Syon textual use. Quires signed S for use of Syon: a-b (calendar), e, i-k, d.-e., .a, ., ee., hh.-ii., kk-ll and i; part of litany in quire H reset.

Binding
16th-century Dutch blind-rolled and gilt-tooled calf over wooden boards (24 x 17 cm), sewn on 4 supports; repaired by Duprez Lahey. Plain vellum pastedowns; modern plain endbands. 2 clasps, missing.

Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Contemporary Dutch decoration, major initials painted in flat gold with strawberry motifs and foliate decoration in borders on stippled ground, secondary initials in blue with red filiegree penwork decoration, minor initials and paragraph marks in alternating red and blue. Painted banderole held by parrot, with inscription: "Dolor pac[ienc]ia vincitur" (leaf c1r). Primary saints' days in calendar added in red. Annotations: A couple of marginal notations in text. 4 leaves of manuscript prayers added at end, with decorative initials matching rest of volume. Unidentified inscription added to calendar (5 Oct.): "hac die professus sum anno [abraded] 1616" (leaf b6r). Several leaves with small round (1.8 cm) woodcuts glued on: Nativity (leaf g2v), Christ disputing (leaf h2v), Pentecost (leaf d2r), Annunciation (leaf .c6v), Visitation (leaf cc7v), and Assumption of the Virgin (leaf ff.2r), with 2 round woodcuts missing (leaves a.1r and gg.6r); cut out woodcut of St. Jerome (leaf hh7r, 3.5 x 1.5 cm).
