Binding: 
Both volumes: 19th-century English full brown goatskin, gilt- and blind-tooled in a retrospective Italian style, over paper boards (43.5 x 32 cm), sewn on 5 supports by Bedford. Plain vellum pastedowns and endleaves; decorative endbands; gilt edges.
Inscriptions/Markings: 

Hand decoration: Contemporary Mainz illuminated foliate borders and initials by the Fust Master, alternating red and blue initials, headlines, and roman numeral chapter numbers, and red capital strokes. Annotations: Contemporary arabic numeral quire signatures (bottom center of first leaf of quire) and leaf signatures (bottom right corner of leaves), mostly trimmed. Original endleaf of each volume retained with contemporary manuscript contents list (vol. I, front endleaf 4r and vol. II, front endleaf 4r).
