Inscribed on the verso, at upper left corner, upside down, in graphite, "13839 (inscribed in a circle"; beside this, in another hand, in graphite, "From a series dated 1726"; at upper center, in graphite "Roy"; at lower left, upside down, stamped in black ink, "William John Hill"; below this, also upside down, in graphite, "G Hill/ upper (?) 48"; and at lower right, in graphite, "48 (inscribed in a circle)".
Watermark: Fleur-de-lis in shield, surmounted by crown, over "4" and "LVG", (Strasbourg lily).
