Notes
The present sheet, one of a large group of finished independent drawings representing scenes of contemporary life. Here two musicians entertain a troupe of dancing dogs who imitate humans in their children's clothing and clumsy movement. A related drawing, featuring a group of Punchinellos with dancing dogs and surrounded by a crowd of equally humorous spectators, is in the Harvard University Art Museums (inv. no. 1965.421).
