This exhibition will explore the evolution of fashionable clothing in Northern Europe—from the fashion revolution of the early fourteenth century to the dawn of the Renaissance.

Views of Rome and Naples is the fifth exhibition in a series drawn from the collection of oil sketches acquired by Morgan Trustee Eugene V. Thaw and his wife, Clare. Mr. Thaw is also an honorary trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Walters Art Museum made the Middle Ages come alive for visitors with The Book of Kings: Art, War, and the Morgan Library's Medieval Picture Bible. The Picture Bible—one of the greatest illuminated manuscripts produced in France during the thirteenth century—was disbound for conservation and study, offering visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view twenty-six of the book's pages in a single exhibition.

The inception and development of the Reformation will be illustrated in Word and Image with over eighty artworks and objects, the majority of which are from museums in Germany which have never been seen before in North America.

Approximately 100 manuscripts, letters, rare printed documents, objects, maps, and published writings—drawn primarily from the collections of the Morgan; the Gilder Lehrman Collection, on deposit at the Morgan; and the Huntington Library—were included.

The Thaw Collection is an exhibition of works that have been acquired by Eugene V. and Clare E. Thaw since 1994. In the decades since the early 1950s, when they obtained their first drawing, a figure study by Giambattista Tiepolo, they have assembled one of the finest collections of drawings and watercolors in private hands. On the occasion of the first exhibition of their drawings at The Morgan Library & Museum in 1975, the Thaws announced their intention to eventually present the collection to the institution.

The Morgan’s collection of autograph manuscripts by Beethoven will be on display as part of Beethoven 250.

Three major sculptures by renowned abstract artist Ellsworth Kelly are now on view as part of the Morgan's summer sculpture program in the Gilbert Court.

This exhibition presents some of the Morgan’s greatest portrait drawings from a collection of works on paper that is internationally recognized for its depth and quality.
