Ray Johnson and Photography: a Conversation

Thursday, July 8, 2020, 3:00 PM

Joel Smith, the Morgan's Richard L. Menschel Curator, talks with artist Sheila Sporer about Ray Johnson (1927-1995)—"New York's most famous unknown artist," founder of the New York Correspondence School, and subject of the 2021 Morgan exhibition PLEASE SEND TO REAL LIFE: Ray Johnson Photographs. The exhibition will bring to light a large, unique body of photographs Johnson made in his final three years--a period when much of his art took the form of intimate creative dialogues and exchanges within his immediate circle.

Please note that the program will take place online. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to participate using Zoom. We ask that you download the app in advance for the best user experience.
