Notebooks: Drafts, Doodles, and Daily Life
Humble yet revealing, notebooks have always played a central role in the understanding of works by writers and artists. This lowly format—ephemeral and provisional yet offering a capaciously blank canvas—has the power to reveal the most intimate portraits of creators and thinkers at work. Join Philip S. Palmer, Robert H. Taylor Curator of Literary and Historical Manuscripts, for a close look at four centuries of notebooks in the Morgan’s collection from Oscar Wilde and Charlotte Brontë to Isaac Newton and James Ivory, among many others.

Please call (212) 685-0008 ext. 560 or e-mail tickets@themorgan.org for information.
