Treasures from the Vault: A Morgan Seminar Series
Drawing upon the rich holdings of the Morgan’s collections join curators and experts for an up close exploration of the Morgan’s greatest treasures. Limited availability, advance registration required.

Line drawing—drawing that represents the figure or other subjects primarily through the delineation of contour—has been used extensively by some of the most important artists of the twentieth century. In this seminar, Rachel Federman, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Drawings, discusses works in the Morgan collection by Jean Cocteau, David Hockney, Ellsworth Kelly, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol, in an effort to tease out the artistic, historical, and cultural contexts that have informed this seemingly simple style of drawing.
