Discover the works of renowned illustrator and author Maurice Sendak in the Morgan's collection. Rachel Federman, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Drawings, will tell the tale of why Sendak left over 800 of his original drawings to the Morgan in his will. Families will explore the connection between the artist's love of music and his iconic images.

Inspired by Sendak, participants will sketch a story while listening to a piece of classical music.

Craft materials: Paper, pencil, eraser; colored pencils optional.

Family workshops are designed for adults and children to enjoy together. Recommended for children ages 7-14. No experience required.

Please note that the program will take place online. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to participate using Zoom. We ask that you download the app in advance for the best user experience.
