Join Dr. Colin B. Bailey, Director of the Morgan Library & Museum, as he traces the development of J. Pierpont Morgan as a collector of rare books and manuscripts. The talk will examine the evolution of Morgan’s taste and the development of his remarkable collection in conjunction with the construction of the library that he commissioned from the architectural firm, McKim, Mead, and White, while also considering Pierpont Morgan’s most important sources of influence: his father, Junius Spencer Morgan, and eponymous nephew.
