Part-Time Sales Associate

The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the position of Part-Time Sales Associate. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Part-time Sales Associates are responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurate processing of sales transactions, and maintaining the Shop’s appearance. They must be knowledgeable about the museum’s offerings, handle cash and credit transactions, and assist with inventory and merchandise displays. Additionally, they are involved in opening and closing procedures, assisting with special events and providing information about the museum as well as the Shop’s offerings. Part-time Sales Associates are also responsible for assisting with the Shop’s annual physical inventory count.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high level of customer service that is welcoming and knowledgeable
  • Accurate processing of sales transactions (in-store as well as phone, in-store mail orders, and e-commerce)
  • Support the processing of in-store pick up orders from the Shop’s online store
  • Ensures proper stock levels in the Shop for both merchandise displays and sales floor back stock
  • Assists with the arranging of merchandise to create visually appealing displays and maintain an organized sales floor
  • Maintains a clean and organized work space and sales floor by ensuring proper stock of daily supplies such as bags and tissue. Performs light dusting and cleaning of merchandise displays.
  • Communicates merchandise and supply needs to management
  • Assists with the maintenance and organization of inventory and display fixtures in both the sales floor and stock room Attends quarterly departmental staff meetings
  • Supports the annual physical inventory count of the Shop
  • Other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager and Director of Merchandising

This position is scheduled to work up to 21 hours per week.

Qualifications
  • High school/GED minimum
  • Prior retail experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale software and e-commerce a plus
  • Museum and/or art-related experience desirable
Compensation

$21 per hour
