Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
Abbott notes at the top of the letter that his "address after Friday" will be Skelfhill, Hawick, N.B. (Scotland).
The letter is undated, but appears to be from the period when Abbott was working on his "Life and Letters of Benjamin Jowett" (published 1897).
