Originally contained within its fitted case - a capsa or scrinium - of cuir-ciselé, painted and gilt, formed of a tube 105 mm long, 46 mm in diameter, in brown calf, lined with calf, the sides cut with 3 upright panels showing St. Margaret escaping from the dragon, skilfully cut and colored in gilt and blue, the foot of the case fitted with a piece of black leather, a black leather fitted lid with hatched top. The scroll is currently housed in a fitted padded red morocco box gilt. The case (MS M.1092A) is stored separately.
