Owned ca. 1400 by Guimet de Pestel ( partially obliterated inscription on fol. 144v); later in the 15th century owned by a "Jovany ess..." (erased inscription on last flyleaf); purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) from Leo S. Olschki in 1912; J.P. Morgan (1867-1943).

Texts: Roman de la Rose, begun by Guillaume de Lorris (fols. 1r - 28r) and finished by Jean de Meun (fols. 28v - 144r).
Decoration: 1 half-page and 28 small miniatures.
Artist: Richard and Mary Rouse have tentatively attributed the illustrations to Jeanne de Montbaston, a book dealer and illuminator, on circumstantial evidence.
