Binding
Contemporary German blind-tooled leather over wooden boards (39 x 29 cm), sewn on 5 supports (most of the tools on the binding are unidentified, except the one eagle of St. John maybe found in EBDB w007363 (attributed to Cologne) and w002319 (attributed to Eberhardsklausen); the Cologne bindery makes more geographical sense with the Dortmund provenance and rubrication style, although Eberhardsklausen was a Windesheim house). Plain endband; pastedowns composed of multiple vellum medieval manuscript leaves. 2 clasps, 1 missing; evidence of chain attachment on rear board.
