Evangelist, John: boiled in Oil -- Emperor Domitian, crowned, is seated with legs crossed, on throne, holding scepter in left hand. He raises right hand, pointing, before Evangelist John, held in vat by torturer. Second torturer, with jar held in both hands, pours oil from pitcher on the head of John.
Dragon, forming marginal extender, grasps ascender of initial D with its mouth.
