In 2019, the Morgan received a donation of some twenty- five works on paper from the collection of American poet John Ashbery (1927–2017) from his husband, David Kermani.

This exhibition brings together, for the first time, a remarkable group of drawings, etchings, and paintings to highlight the often overlooked but formative presence of migrants, immigrants, exiles, and refugees in Rembrandt’s world and work.
