Gounod's own collection of the songs of his contemporaries and friends. One piano sonata by Charles Gay seems to have got in by mistake.
The title page of the first song carries Gounod's pencilled instructions to the binder.
Table of contents in Gounod's hand is bound at the end.
The volume consists of 66 printed items and 2 manuscripts. Many of the printed items have the lithographed title page pictures of the period.
Individual songs within the collection are cataloged separately (PMC 54.1-66, Cary 12-13).
