My lodging is on the cold ground -- Should auld acquaintance be forgot.
The text beginning "My lodging is on the cold ground" later appeared together with the melody which now accompanies Believe me if all those endearing young charms (and also Fair Harvard) in: Vocal music, or, The songster's companion (London, 1775); its first line aside, the poem beginning "Should auld acquaintance" bears no resemblance to the song known as Auld lang syne.
