A preparatory watercolor drawing by Saint-Exupéry for Le petit prince, related the illustration for part XVII, which shows the little prince in conversation with the serpent, and is printed with the caption "Maintenant, va-t'an, dit-il... je veux redescendre!" ([Paris]: Gallimard, c1946 [1967 impression]) p. 85.
This drawing is p. 154 of the autograph manuscript of Le petit prince (MA 2592). See related record for more information.
Title from Lacroix, no. 460.
Drawing shows the little prince sitting atop a tall wall, looking down. Above this scene is a second sketch, executed only in graphite, of the little prince seated. A small portion of the page (at the center of the tall wall) has been burned away, evidently by a cigarette.
