A preparatory watercolor drawing by Saint-Exupéry for Le petit prince, related the illustration for part XVII, which shows the little prince in conversation with the serpent, and is printed with the caption "Maintenant, va-t'an, dit-il... je veux redescendre!" ([Paris]: Gallimard, c1946 [1967 impression]) p. 85.

Summary

Drawing shows the little prince sitting atop a tall wall, looking down. Above this scene is a second sketch, executed only in graphite, of the little prince seated. A small portion of the page (at the center of the tall wall) has been burned away, evidently by a cigarette.
