Notes
Uri Aran (born 1977, Jerusalem, Israel) is best known for a wide-ranging practice that playfully engages with the relationship between indeterminacy and resolution. Aran establishes a rhythmic and poetic sensibility treating drawing as a form of discovery and combining references to poetry, music, and childhood in his richly layered compositions. Aran's drawings manifest a limitless curiosity that is in tension with the idea of what's "finished." His drawings are often self-referential invoking past exhibitions and recurring motifs, and yet they consistently incorporate new meanings and figures. Taken together, Aran's drawings allow for open-endedness and reconsideration of the familiar.
