Notes
One of a group of seven drawings purchased by Donald Oenslager in 1963 from the Colnaghi firm. James Byam Shaw offered Oenslager the group because they appeared to be stage designs, though they were taken from an album of architectural drawings with uncertain provenance. The album had an 18th-century Italian binding, but Shaw speculated that drawings were mounted to 19th-century paper, suggesting the album was assembled at a later date. The drawings vary in dimension and most consist of smaller studies pasted onto a larger sheet.
