Notes:

Renouf creates minimalist abstract paintings and drawings developed from her close attention to subtle properties of materials. She created this drawing during a three-year period when she lived in Washington, Connecticut. It is part of a series of twenty drawings called the "Elements Series." Of this period in her career, Renouf has written, "It was a big contrast with New York City, as we were surrounded by open fields and woods." In this drawing, there is a subtle tension between evenly spaced vertical lines and the organic contours of hills or mountains.
