Saret is associated with the post-minimalist generation of American artists who, in the late 1960s, developed a more organic approach to making sculpture. His drawings are related to his sculptures made of malleable, undulating volumes of chicken wire. This work is part of a group Saret made in the 1980s and 1990s with the aid of a computer. Reflecting his interest in geometric systems, he worked with a programmer to create mathematically complex compositions that would have been impossible to achieve by hand.
