Notes
Although known primarily for his large, colorful paintings, Martin is also an avid draftsman, filling sketchbook pages on a daily basis. This drawing reflects his love of nature. It belongs to a group of drawings created outdoors, in rapid succession, combining observation from nature with dream and hallucination. The simple patterns of tree trunks also relates to some of the motifs in Martin's abstract paintings.
