Notes
Mark Dion gained an international reputation in the 1980s for his large, site-specific installations filled with materials he gathers, categorizes, and displays with the care of an archeologist or anthropologist. He plans his projects with detailed drawings. "Vivarium Tree Stump" relates to a project realized at the Seattle Art Museum in 2006, in which a felled tree was made to serve as an environment for new growth.
