Notes:

Freilicher belonged to a small group of artists who remained committed to figurative art during the heyday of Abstract Expressionism. Closely related to the poets of the New York School, notably Frank O'Hara and John Ashbery, she published drawings in the literary magazine The Paris Review in the 1960s. This full size study for a lithograph made for The Paris Review is characteristic of Freilicher's free technique, bold strokes, and great economy of means. The view of a Parisian bridge over the Seine alludes to the title of the magazine.
