Dumas' work focuses on the human figure in images whose poignancy and eroticism recall the art of German and Austrian Expressionists. In works such as this one, she pours ink or watercolor on the paper and applies it with large Chinese brushes. This is part of a group of drawings Dumas made on the them of maternity around the time of the birth of her daughter in 1989.
