Notes:

London-based artist Neil Gall produces labor-intensive, highly detailed paintings paintings, drawings and sculpture that reproduce rough-hewn models of his own design, usually made from humble, everyday materials such as tape, Ping-Pong balls, Play-Doh, and cardboard tubes. The present drawing was based on a plasticine model, which he made with his eyes closed. It is typical of Gall's work in the contrast between its subject---a crude construction---and its highly sophisticated, exacting technique, indebted to old-master illusionism.
