  Notes
Best-known for his large-scale sculptures constructed of crushed automobile parts Chamberlain also explored two-dimensional media, such as photography, painting and drawing. The present sheet belongs to a series of drawings he made in the early 1980s by spraying lacquer paint on paper. The result evokes the colored metal surfaces of Chamberlainʼs sculptures. The succession of abstract, vertical motifs along the horizontal sheet imparts a strong sense of rhythm to the composition.
