Kraemer, Ruth S. "Drawings by Gravelot in the Morgan Library." Master drawings, XX (Spring 1982), p. 8, no. 5.
Gravelot's design is for an engraved headpiece intended for Book I of Le Franc de Pompignon's "Poésies Sacrées" (Paris : Chaubert, 1751). King David, as described in the biblical Books of Samuel, is shown with his harp, rejoicing at the head of a procession bearing the ark to Jerusalem. This is one of two preparatory drawings, along with 1968.15:11, for a headpiece vignette in the "Poésies Sacrées".
